Week two of MEDA MissionTechies

On Monday we went over quick lecture of hardware component of a PC on Monday. We skim through all the important component of the computer structure to make the computer functional. We also watched a video of Steve Job's introduction of Macintosh to get a bit of a history idea of how computers evolved since 1984. We went home with an assignment of researching the history of computers.

On Tuesday we had our job readiness training with Olivia. She taught us how to write a correct format resume and the most used way of writing a formal resume (chronological). We also had to write our elevator pitch and gather at least three references for our portfolio. She also taught us how LinkedIn is a great way for employers to look for people to hire as well as other statistics of looking for job methods. After that we had to inventory our lab splitting in to two groups one for each lab.
We learn to document our inventory in to a spreadsheet by physical condition as well as financial condition.

On Thursday we continued with hardware lecture and inventory of laptops in the tech shop that were donated. It was same as Tuesday pretty much.

On Friday we had a google site visit for Somos Google. It was a long drive but it was worth it in the end. We had an orientation with four Hispanic employees at google about their job roles as well as how they get into working at Google. We had two presentations afterwards, one was for Google cardboard and the other was for Google Photos application. After that it was lunch time and we got all the free food we wanted there which was great. When we finished we went on a tour around the Google campuses and drove back to MEDA afterwards. It was a great experience and a fun trip overall to Google.

To be continued next week...
