2 Weeks went by so Fast. = )

Hey, my name is Zuri and Im a new Mission Techie. We're about to finish week number 3, We have learned a little about html and css and i think this is SO GREAT!!!.
Our Instructor Abraham has guided us all the way and now we have created our own personal Resume, on THE web can you believe that!!

We've learned coding, how to style and play with it, just giving it some personal flavor. I thought that learning hardware was going to be so tough for me, but actually its so interesting, thanks to Leo we are now taking stuff apart, learning how to break down different models of Desktops, learning that there's so many different motherboards etc.

And another thing we have done, TARARARAA!!!  We went to Dropbox!!! And  yeah I fell in love with that place, specially with the pink floor Library, we had the chance to be able to take Abrahams coding class in the Conference room where all the top bosses of DropBox have them it was SOO AMAZING!

Dropbox visit!!

Super excited to be a part of a young cohort group that share the same interest. Talk about connections?

Leo is the founder of Mission Techies and has great connections to get us to visit tech employees work place and environment. Great peoples and places to work around the bay area, CA. Check us out at Dropbox yesterday and the goodies that Dropbox gave us to support us to pursue a tech career!

😄

Thank you Dropbox!

I am so thankful to be part of Mission Techies cohort #13

I am so amaze about all the new skills I been learning this 3 weeks

  • The code class with Abraham Velasquez
  • The help we get from Yuridia
  • The awesome classes with Nick, has help my confidence
  • I love the hardware classes

Plus the unique experience going into the Dropbox company, all the information and experience that mr.JJ, Eric, Noval and Abraham share with us.

Visit to Dropbox

Yesterday Febuary 8th, we had our first corporate site visit. We visited Dropbox to have a coding class with Abraham, our coding teacher. We had a lovely tour of their facility which is huge and we saw the various art they had. My favorite was a giant chrome panda statue they had on their 5th floor. Our class was in a big conference with two huge flat screen tv's uses for communication. Then we had a small lecture from a staff who told us about their data facility and servers that run dropbox. It was a great experience visiting Dropbox and we can't wait to go back.

Journey as a mission techie

These past 12 weeks as a mission techie have open my eyes to a whole new world. I did not know about how there a lot of companies here in San Francisco like Doubledutch, Square, Soundcloud, and Linkedin. I am very happy to have joined this program because it has helped me be more confident in my skills and abilities.

Past 3 Weeks

In these past 3 weeks I have learned a lot of things. It has been fun and interesting journey. I have learned  lot about myself and technology. We visited Square and Soundcloud. We also learned how to use Wordpress. One of our teachers for coding gave us challenge to solve. It was challenging and I wanted to give but the help of my teachers I was able to understand and solve the problem.

It's almost the end...

Thinking ahead, there are only a couple of weeks left of techies. The program has helped me prepare and expand my horizons. Yesterday we went to Square and I loved it. The staff was friendly but what shocked me the most was seeing a Techie Alumni working at Square. It was impressive and eyeopening. I'm excited for the program to end, but at the same time I don't. I've met great people that I hope to work with one day. The end is near, but it's just the beginning to my career.
