OhmNomNom's Weeklies Week 2

As we wrap up our second week here at Mission Techies we are starting to move into learning about tech and getting our feet wet in the fundamentals of HTML and the dis-assembly/reassembly of a desktop computer tower. In both cases organization and preparation were fundamental in keeping the processes simple and clear. Last week we established our values within the program and familiarized ourselves with the mission statement of the Mission Techies program.

I'm optimistic of where the programs will take us in the coming weeks as well as the information and opportunities that we will be exposed to!

My First two weeks as a Mission Techie.

These first two weeks have been great. The first week we learned everything we are going to run into. We have review the CompTIA A+  Certification which is a almost 2,000 page book. The first Friday we meet with Sarah Newell she though us our first elevator pitch that was really helpful to finish our skill chart. Our second week has been we got into coding and hardware, IT WAS AWESOME!!!  Well I still don't understand coding, but I think Ill get better at it in time.
I am really exited to continue with  this program and learn more. I hope all my teammates feel the same way about it.

My first two Weeks at Mission Techies

Thursday, April 28, 2016

Hey fellow Cohorts of Spring 2016,

The first two weeks here as a Mission Techie has been great so far and really interesting because I have learned to create an Elevator pitch, how to present myself, and about Money Mondays. I also refreshed my memory working on our Skill Chart on PowerPoint. Before I joined the program I never thought this would be so much fun and exciting learning about everything. Today we did some hardware and did some coding, the coding I need to work on more but, I'll get it down once I get the hang of it. I can't wait to learn more about coding it seems very exciting and the hardware is pretty fun, it's like an electrical version of LEGOS.

My first two weeks as a Techie. 4/28/2016

My first two weeks as a new Mission Techies student was interesting. I met so many different types of people all wanting the same thing I want. A chance at a better future, a chance to achieve, succeed, and diversify in the IT world. In the short time we got here we have gotten to know and build relationships with one another. We've also learned a lot of the basics of IT such as names and locations of components, how to take apart and reassemble a dell computer tower, an Intro to HTML coding and we had a chance to test out a new class known as "Money Mondays". I'm still feeling as exited as when I first started and am ecstatic to continue the program and see where all of this leads.

Fresh Meat As Cohort #10

Week one as a mission techie was basic. We not only learned the values as a mission techie, but we also added our own little spice to it. I was incredibly amazed as to how many terms from the CompTIA A+ slideshow I have memorized. I am anticipating to learn and memorize many more. The CompTIA A+ exam may be 3 hours long and all the way in San Jose, but best believe I'm definitely looking forward to studying endlessly over the weekend.

As a week two mission techie I can honestly Thursday has been my favorite so far. I am glad i started with the hardware side. Despite being stressed out due to having a difficult time taking my computer apart because my CPU was broken and the optical drive was jammed, i really enjoyed coding. Yaritza was super helpful and inspired me to google more html tags than the ones Susana (I think that is her name) was teaching us. I am looking forward to learning more code.

the baby steps of mission techies

from a world where i thought i was advance in technology. i understand i have a lot to learn and I'm very exited! from hardware to coding today and i think i get it a little more. i love learning!  i just really good about this program and looking forward to learn more!

My First and second weeks!

My first week was very informal about the program and it got me excited for the future.
My second week started off with me feeling a little nervous because of the presenting of our skill chart but, I pushed through it okay. I had a very great Thursday because of the hardware and coding portion. I really enjoyed both parts of it. I really do look forward to this program.

My first two weeks as a Mission Techies

The first week of the Missions Techie programs was lots of fun. We learned about the businesses development curriculum and how to write an elevator pitch. As the second week comes to an end I learned how to write basic HTML code and take apart a computer and put it back together. It was hard but I did and I cant wait to learn more and do it better.

1st and 2nd Week!

Hello everyone,

Our second week is coming to a close! Out of both weeks, I have to say that the second week has been my favorite. Thursday was great, we took apart a DELL computer (OPTIPLEX 360), and learned the very basics to HTML. Currently, I don't have a favorite competency since we've only done two. To this point I have my elevator pitch just in case I meet the CEO of Google. I appreciate everyone that has given this opportunity to a lot of low income individuals.

3rd week I am more than ready for you, see you later!

Getting Started with Mission Techies

In my first two weeks at mission techies I wasn't sure what i was getting myself into, but being in the class room really opened my eyes to things that i need to change professionally like my resume and how it should be formatted. We started to learn how to code which is what i  really started to like and hope to really get into depth. We did some hardware work which is taking apart a computer; I wasn't to excited when I heard that , but once i got into it and started actually taking the computer apart it became easy and fun. Everything i thought coming into this program has changed. I'm excited going forward and cant wait to see what is in store for me.

Our First and Second Week!! :)

Hello everyone this week we have met different kinds of people and living with them, in these two weeks we have acquired new knowledge and other skills that we did not know we had! continue to the end! good luck to you all!

first and second week

So far so good the first week has been more informative, but the second week has been a little more tough. Today we learned the basics on coding and for the first time in my life I have broke down a computer which was interesting. Another class that I enjoyed was money Monday It was fun to learn how to manage our money we have to think forward. Susana was help full with coding which I was intimidated at first but she was very patient.

My first and second finished

Our first week got a schedule on how the program was going to be for the next 12 weeks. We did a skill chart and elevator pitch. We worked on our presentation skills. Week 2 we develop short term goals and financial business. Also finally got our hands on learning about the basic skills of coding and taking computers apart and putting them back together.

Week 2 finished!

We're just coming up on the end of week two, and I've already learned a lot. We spent week 1 learning about our values as techies and how to earn certifications. We also learned how to create skill charts and an elevator pitch, which was quite challenging It was a lot of lectures and writing. Week 2 was a chance to really get hands-on. We had a chance to learn about what our short-term goals were and learn the specs of a computer. And finally, on Thursday we had a chance to do basic coding and take apart a computer. It was a very educational 2 weeks!

Our Week

Our week was an awesome week, we worked on technology and learned about computers. Our cohort is amazing and full of talent. Steve Jobs is no longer with us but I think Mission Techies is the next best thing. I'm a member of Cohort number 10. According to Ancient Mayan prophecies, the number 10 represents tech skills and outstanding success in the tech industry. We want to be successful and to help the world and if you don't believe us just watch! I had a great day, I hope you are having a blessed day and that you stay close to Jesus. If you don't believe in Jesus, may the force be with you, young padawan.

Burrito Week 2

So this week learned about basic coding which I dominated, good old hardware, which I didn't finish our values, MM, elevator pitch and long term life goals. Alas I got the people assigned in my group hungry for burritos and tacos! Though to be honest I low key wanted Lumpia, still burritos are love and burritos are life!

My crazy first and second week as a techie

Its week two and I'm not sure if I will be good at this but I'm going to give it a try. I learned how to code I really like codding. I've been learning a lot from these two weeks. I can only picture what else will I learn. The more Knowledge you know its the better. Its the first time I ever opened a computer. Codding was interesting, But I really liked it.
Mission Techie

Week 11!

It's Week 11 here at Mission Techies. This week we worked on the computers donated from USF. We looked at the specs from the BIOS and recorded everything on a data entry platform. There ready to install windows 7 and be used by next class. Unfortunately we didn't get to code but tech support was helpful as well. We did get to meet the mentors from Linkedin and visit the building. I'm glad that I will be getting a mentor! Another thing we worked on was Salesforce. I had trouble with a bit of the task we were working on but I managed to get it done. It was cool.

Next week is our last here @MT. I learned plenty about different topics  related to the tech industry. It was a great opportunity for me and I do hope to land a job related to tech. I'll make sure to follow up Leo and work my way up.

Thank you
