Week 5!!!!!!!!!

Man, Oh, Man!!

What a great week. Yesterday May 18, 2016 was nice. I enjoyed giving back to the community and seeing several people open their first email accounts through Get Connected 2016. It opened my eyes to see that the Latin community is very illiterate when it comes to technology. Get Connected motivated me to give back to the community in the technology aspect. At the same time it made me realize that people that were once in my shoes made it to big companies. I enjoyed connecting with several people through LinkedIn, it expanded my horizons even more. Today May 19th we learned coding with Jorge and Yaritza. At first it was a headache, but now I understand. Loops and strings, here I come!

Week 5 as a Mission Techie

As week 5 comes to an end I have learned a lot of things. My favorite thing I learned this week was coding specifically Javascript. Learned about strings and loops. I am excited to learn more and I cant wait. Also I am excited to go to be going to Linkedin tomorrow.
Week 5

This past week has been busy, crazy, fun, eventful, and mind opening. So many opportunities to get us prepared for the world after we graduate from MEDA. On Tuesday we went to the University of San Francisco and explored the campus a little and also got a feel what it would be like to actually attend such a prestigious university. We also had the chance to listen to the staff of the University to better understand their role working there. Also, a perk to working at the school is free tuition and registration, and it was just amazing because that is an opportunity that can never be handed to anyone. I'm excited and I can't wait for next week

Fifth week of the Mission techies

Our fifth week of our Mission Techies program has been crazy. We have had a very busy but wonderful week, we have gone to USF and we will be going to Linked In tomorrow. I am very exited for tomorrow and this program has thought me a lot in the last few weeks. I have learned to be more confident about myself and learned how to work together with our group for our projects. Today we learned Java Script which for the first time I can say I understood it very well, more than html. Leo also talked to us about network and took us on a small field trip to the server room which was pretty amazing on how much cables there are in there.

Another week full of challenges as Mission Techie had fun and learned new things as always I invite you to continue learning so you can achieve their dreams!

week 5

Today was interesting we learned more on coding specifically by clicking inspect and the console. We also learned network management with Leo and he gave us a tour inside MEDA on were all the connections go, and we even went on the basement to check out the service room.

Mission Techies fifth week

I am deep in the coding trenches, fighting with the heavy artillery of loops and logical symbols. I am fighting against um... not being broke! I wake up every day and I am very tired but I continue to code and develop my tech skills that I as a Latino am supposed to be incapable of possessing- what a lie! I am learning, learning and learning. I feel that I come from the very bottom of society and I climbing up a ladder of algorithms and formulas I can't pronounce yet. One day I'm going to be on the cover of Rich Chicano Magazine and then I'll use my money to save the world... or at least support my family. Anyways, tech is amazing and last night we ate Pollo Campero! I don't know what the meaning of life is but I'm pretty sure it involves Pollo Campero. The panelists who spoke last night were very inspiring! I was asleep though so their words passed into my sleeping brain and lodged in my unconscious from which they may arise in a moment of sudden inspiration. One day I am going to be a champion at coding. But for now I'm going to head to my apartment and be a champion at sleeping.

Week 5

This was the busiest week yet at the program. Tuesday we went to USF for mock interviews and apply for jobs at the school. Wednesday we volunteer at Everett middle school to teach families how to use the internet and make a gmail account. Thursday we started learning software and java script.

Week number 5

It was a hectic week because of the get connect event on Wednesday, but it went good. On Thursday I just realized that I want to go in networking because it is interest me and enjoy learning it.

We did so much, little sleep

So today TheeDoniestofallJohnsons all one word (theedonjohnson for short), gained connections to Linkedin and drop box and still on the path of creating a business, but i still say we need more burritos and more places to go. Fun Fact: I have none.
Also WOO LINKEDIN TRIP TOMORROW WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

OhmNomNom's Weeklies Week 4

Week four is coming along and we are a third of the way through the program.
We've gotten to disassemble and reassemble both PC and Macbook laptops. I'd never realized how much organization is required for the reassembly of laptops form the motherboard up, everything from the sizes of the screws to the order in which components needed to be screwed in and reconnected had to be precise otherwise it may not fit correctly or cause damage to the case.

On the software side of things we've touched upon formatting and styling, especially with CSS (cascade style sheets) and using them as a resource to keep our html files looking cleaner while helping to manage the way they appear.

That's it for this week, keep on nommin'!

WEEK 4 as a Mission Techie

As the weeks go by the curriculum is increasing by the minute and its getting exciting because now, events are coming. At first I wasn't as confident in HTML but once I really observed and go back to my mistakes it all started to make sense to me. Also, on Monday it was exciting to walk with my group to see the how many technological support stores that are in the neighborhood, which is very little.  This program has opened my mind that there are many career choices in the tech industry. I'm looking forward to every event that's approaching as we speak.

Blog #2

We are continuing our education in hardware and software and started our work with CSS and incorporating HTML into it so we can start customizing our websites to what we want. On the hardware side we have taken apart two laptops one a P.C. and MAC. Honestly I prefer hardware a little more but I know that I gotta keep better track of my screws especially if you are working on MACs because once their gone their gone for good. Not to say that coding isn't fun,I really enjoy the troubleshooting and problem solving when learning a new tag and how to incorporate it into my website. I also really like my group  I was assigned for the project. We really work well together and treat each other with respect. I can't wait to present our project to the rest of the group.

Week 3&4

Week 3, we took apart PC laptops. It was a bit hard because of all the tiny screws, but it was simple to me. Week 4, we did IT support that I suck at it, but I pulled through it ok.
Week 3&4

Week 3 we continued to work on our group projects and did research on our topic. We aslo learned how to take apart laptops which was so much fun. I love getting laptops that have missing screws and and parts. Week 4 we got a lecture about tech support and how we would help out a customers. Thursday we continue to learn coding. I started using css but my page got messed up and it just made things a lot more confusing. I'll be staying with html

Techies week #4

this week has been great! I built a computer model out of a shoe box and started to take apart  a mac books! (way easier then PC). now im getting into coding more, just getting the hang of it. but so far pretty easy and due able ! looking forward to learning even more!

Leaning to Code HTML/CSS

 5/12/13

Today's lesson on coding really had me super excited.
Being able to actually look at the code understand what it says was one of the most amazing feelings. Also being able to create a page really inspired me to want get in depth in the coding field, this coding class actually has me coding at home so I can get as much practice as possible. It is my goal to try and perfect my skills in coding. We also took apart a mac book and it was a lot easier than the PC and Microsoft lap top. Hardware isn't exactly my favorite, but today went smooth and I hope that I can build enough patience to get better at taking apart the computers.

                                   -Jessica Carolina Dean (Jessie)
Our last two weeks we have learned a lot about our self's and others. We have worked on our group projects, and have created replicas of computer towers, that project was great we really got to use our imagination and got to put one together just the way we thought it would work. Thursday's have been our hardware/coding class day. I love doing hardware because we really get to into all the components that make up the computer but coding has been really hard and confusing, I don't think everyone learns the same way.

Sincerely,

Unanimous

Week 4

Week 4 is going great. I am learning coding skills and pretty soon I will know the secrets of how to hack your microwave and turn it against you. The time is approaching when humanity will be obsolete and I will control the world through Java. Thus, tech skills are essential for the new century. I live in an increasingly technological world and you need tech skills to stay afloat. Therefore- the development of such skills is like the development of Noah's ark. The waters continue to rise and the technologically savvy will stay afloat. Go Mission Techies!

Week 4

Week 4 already? Time has been flying by so quickly.  We learned about tech support early in the week. It's interesting, but doesn't seem like my thing. I loved taking apart the mac book pro though. My group had a lot of progress with the project. I really like the hands-on areas of the program. Looking forward to next week.
